Local Conservation Areas are the geographical areas where conservation activities are taking place. In some cases, a Local Conservation Area Fund represents a single conservancy. In others, it may include one or more conservancies and/or another place such as a wildlife corridor, a sensitive habitat or landscape.
Under the Wildlife Credits scheme, funds can be attributed to a particular area or place through a Local Conservation Area Fund. Income to a Local Conservation Area Fund is used exclusively to mitigate costs in that particular area. Funds can also be allocated to a particular species at local level.
